Why do we need a Research Repository?

As a Saas white-label product in the digital healthcare industry, LifePlan addresses patient success in therapeutic areas such as chronic kidney disease, multiple sclerosis, and maternal health. We work with healthcare companies that are experts in their specific therapeutic area. Each client's product shares the LifePlan design components but is developed with unique branding, content, and feature set that speak to the client's distinct end-user groups. The team needs to track feedback and research projects for each client separately, as well as collectively to inform design decisions.

Address feedback and take action

Instead of taking action on feedback right away, we implemented a process to assess and prioritize the feedback as they come in. Each piece of tangible feedback is entered into the Notion database, reviewed by the team, and moved on to the design roadmap or archived. All feedbacks are tracked collectively in one database, and separately with filtered views for each client.

Provide clarity on past work & resource

When I tried to study some past work for a new research project, I realized it takes longer to search different keywords and locate files in the G Drive than actually reading them. Document names simply do not reflect its content accurately. In Notion, I tag each resource entry with type, topic, and a brief note, and link to a project in the project database to provide context. This way, resources are searchable as well as discoverable through filtered views.

Set up Quick Actions

On the very top of the landing page, I added 4 shortcuts for quick access, as they are the most frequently used pages by the team.

Plan user research projects

When planning a user research project, we start with a template ➡️ in the project database.

For each project, the database displays ⬇️

Collect and organize user research data

I use templates to create standardized database entries for each type of research data (user interview, usability testing, survey).

For example ⬇️, the user interview template is structured with an interview guide, interview notes, link to consent form & recording. Each entry is linked to a project in the project database.
